Thai amulets of Buddha Phra Somdej.
Thai Phra Somdej amulets (also called Phra Somdet )
were originally invented by Most Venerable Somdej Phra Putthajarn
( Ajarn Toe Prommarangsi ) who lived from 1788 to 1872
and was the superior of Wat Rakhang
(Wat Rakhangkhositaram) in Bangkok.
This type of amulet represents a very stylized Buddha
and is in a way "the queen of amulets of Thailand",
any collector of Thai amulets necessarily has one,
and in Thailand if someone only wears one amulet,
most often it is a Phra Somdej .
Unlike other types of amulets,
Phra Somdej do not have ONE unique effect/power
(like fortune, health, charm...)
but their effect assists and protects their wearer in all types of situations.
