Guan Yu ( 177–219 ) was a Chinese general of legendary exploits, who was later deified and is considered the God of War (but is also considered in Buddhism as a protector of the Dharma under the name Sangharama ).
Guan Yu is the protector of all martial professions, whether it be the police, the army or even the triads! More surprisingly, Guan Yu is also the protector of tofu merchants (in his real life, Guan Yu was himself a tofu seller) and his statue is quite often found in vegetarian restaurants.
