🙏 Biography of the Venerable Luang Phor Yit
Luang Phor Yit Chantasuwano was born on Tuesday, June 10, 1933, in the village of Ban Don Hua Gruad, Petchburi province. From a modest family of seven children, he was drawn to monastic life from a very young age. As a child, he would follow the monks every morning on their alms-collecting journey to Wat Na Phrom temple, which was run by his uncle, Luang Phor Huan.
From the age of eight, he was allowed to live at the temple, where he studied Thai scripture and the basics of the Dharma. A brilliant and well-liked student, he was ordained a novice (Sam Ma Nen) in his teens, continuing both the study of Buddhist texts and the learning of preaching.
From a very young age, Luang Phor Yit showed a deep interest in esoteric sciences, particularly Sak Yant (sacred tattoos). His master agreed to transmit this knowledge to him on the condition that he never neglect the study of the Dharma, a balance he maintained throughout his life.
A charismatic and respected monk, Luang Phor Yit was renowned for his extraordinary spiritual gifts, his mastery of language, and his ascetic practices. He was also known for his great kindness, enjoying feeding pigeons during his quiet moments. He passed away in 1996 (BE 2539), leaving behind a lineage of powerful and deeply revered amulets.
